Waco, TX (December 17, 2024) – Waco Independent School District announces that Waco High School head football coach Linden Heldt will be stepping down from his coaching role at the end of the 2024-2025 school year to pursue opportunities closer to his family in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Heldt, who has been a valued member of Waco ISD, made the decision to relocate in order to be closer to his elderly father and extended family residing in DFW. After thoughtful discussions, Waco ISD and Coach Heldt have mutually agreed to support his transition as he seeks new coaching opportunities in the metroplex.
“We are grateful for Coach Heldt’s dedication and leadership during his time at Waco High,” Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Spicer said. “While we are sad to see him go, we fully support his decision to prioritize family and wish him the very best in this next chapter.”
Coach Heldt expressed his gratitude to the Waco community, reminiscing about the students and families he has had the opportunity to meet and get to know during his tenure at WISD.
“It has been an honor to work with the student athletes, staff, and families at Waco High,” Heldt said. “This decision was not an easy one, but my family’s needs must come first at this time. I am thankful for the relationships I’ve built here and look forward to seeing Waco High continue to grow and succeed. Lion Pride Runs Deep!”
Waco ISD will begin the process of identifying a new head football coach to continue building upon the foundation Coach Heldt has established. The district will begin taking applications in early January. Further updates will be provided as the search progresses.
