Coach Esrom Martinez
Coach Martinez brings nearly a decade of experience within Waco ISD and over 15 years in education to his role as Head Coach and Athletic Coordinator for Waco High School. Dedicated to developing student-athletes both on and off the field, he emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and excellence as the cornerstones of a successful athletic program.
Before joining Waco High, Coach Martinez served as an assistant head coach at Midway, Connally, and University, contributing to the growth and success of each program. His football journey began as a linebacker for the University of Arkansas and Midwestern State University. Coach Martinez earned All-Conference and All-American honors as a linebacker at Midwestern State.
Beyond the game, Coach Martinez is a proud husband to his wife, Sara, who is also an educator. Together they are raising six children: Elisia, Kiyomi, Esrom Jr., Delilah, Brayden, and Lily. His deep roots in the Waco community, combined with his passion for mentoring young athletes, make him a valuable leader for the Lions. He looks forward to enhancing Waco High’s athletic programs and building a strong, competitive, and values-driven culture.
Coach Josh Brown
Coach Brown - Offensive Coordinator
Coach Brown is in his eighth year coaching and his first year as offensive coordinator at Waco High School. A Waco native, Coach Brown graduated from nearby Robinson High School before continuing his education at both St. Edwards University and Baylor University where he earned his Masters in Education. This is Coach Brown’s second time in Waco ISD. He has also coached at both Midway High School and Temple High School, most recently serving as Temple’s Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator. Coach Brown has been married for 10 years to his lovely wife Larisa, and together they have two boys, Travis age 4 and Wyatt age 1.
Coach Tyler Massey
Coach Tyler Massey Head Defensive Coordinator
Coach Massey is the Defensive Coordinator and a proud Waco High graduate. When the opportunity presented itself to come home, he didn’t hesitate. Coach Massey is enjoying his second stint with Waco ISD and has had stops at Midway and was most recently the Special Teams Coordinator this past season with Temple ISD. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Marlayna, and has one child, Luca, who is five years old.
Coach Lenoy Jones
Coach Lenoy Jones - Associate Head Coach / Defensive Line
Coach Jones is in his 18th year of coaching and his 1st year as the Defensive line and Associate Head Coach at Waco High School. Coach Jones graduated from Groesbeck High School, as a player, winning the State Championship in football in 1991. Earning a football scholarship to TCU, Jones was a 4 year starter for the Horned Frogs.Coach Jones still ranks 4th all time in tackles at TCU. After College, Coach Jones played 7 seasons in the NFL with the Houston/Tennessee Oilers and the Cleveland Browns. Coach Jones earned his Bachelors of General Studies from TCU. Coach Jones is married to Dr LaJuana Jones, who has been a nurse for 21 years. Coach Jones is the proud father of 5 boys, Lenoy Jr 28, Landon 27, Lance 24, Lawyer 19, and Lane 15.
